"Toastmasters provides me with the confidence to 'just do it'. I recently spoke to 650 people with poise and polish, thanks to my Toastmasters training. I am now comfortable speaking in front of groups and Toastmasters gave me the skills to feel prepared in circumstances such as radio and television interviews."

Susan Dakuzaku, Past-President, Sacramento Asian-Pacific Chamber of Commerce

"Each week Sunrise Center Toastmasters Club gives me the opportunity to practice my speaking and leadership skills. I recently obtained my dream job of being a presenter for a national seminar company. A big thank you to Sunrise Center Toastmasters who warmly support all their members and encourage them to grow."

"I joined Toastmasters 22 years ago. At the time, although I was very active in community leadership, I was insecure about running a meeting and unable to have any lengthy conversation on a subject beyond quick pleasantries. I knew everyone on the surface but didn't really know anyone deeply or have close friends. Toastmasters quickly gave me the organizational skills to set up and run effective meetings. More importantly, Toastmasters taught me listening skills and communication skills that changed my life."

Steve Beede, Attorney

"My success in business depends on my skill in communicating with people. Through Toastmasters, I have learned to be concise, to make people laugh, and to listen better. Best of all, the entire process has been fun and a real confidence booster."

"Public speaking has always been traumatic for me. However, over the past nine years in Toastmasters, I have developed skills, poise, and determination which have been thoroughly life-altering. I have achieved my Ph.D in Human Sexuality, and I can now speak with confidence on this most difficult subject at a variety of venues, including TV and radio. Toastmasters has also helped me in my private practice by teaching me active listening skills."

"From the very first time I attended the Sunrise Center Toastmasters meeting, I was engaged. Our members truly enjoy each other and the connecting process. Participation comes without effort because I'm having fun. With each meeting I'm learning a little more about a critical life skill: the art of communication."

"I joined Toastmasters over ten years ago to have breakfast with my husband. I didn't really plan to join. But, once there, I was hooked for life. Toastmasters offers something for everyone at any level. You never get bored because there is always something different to try. Every skill you learn in Toastmasters is either a speaking, a listening, or a leadership skill. In my new career, I help people to reduce their debt and to realize their dream of financial independence. I can't think of a Toastmaster's skill that I won't use in my new venture.

"I joined Toastmasters to acquire professionalism in presentations. While building this skill, I acquired a wonderful circle of interesting and supportive friends. After over 12 years I am still learning and having fun in the doing! Toastmaster training has enhanced my poise and smoothness as a Facilitator, Trainer, and as a Reiki Master Teacher. Communicating clearly really matters when helping someone on the job, with life challenges, in teaching Reiki classes, and in building listening skills."

When I joined toastmasters just the thought of getting up in front of a group of people brought swarms of butterflies to my stomach. Today the butterflies are still there -- but now they fly in unison. It is fun.
